History and origin

Santería is the second book that I’ve illustrated. It was issued by Vladimír Kvasnička Vodnář publishing house and should be available in bookstores. The book was written by Veronika Šulcová, who also worked with me on her first literary piece, the book Voodoo also issued by the same publishing house. Creation and publishing of Santería was being planned already at the time of the former book’s release, and although the process was lengthy, it led to a successful result.

Technique experiments in visual art

At that time I was already developing the new technique, but still I walked the path blindly, led only by the voice of presentiment rather than having a clear trusted vision. This small artwork was a not-so-imperfect predecessor. Colorization wasn’t done with oil-based paints but with colored inks, and may I have your attention now… with coffee as well. Everything stabilized and preserved without loss of lightfastness.

I consider this artwork to be unique

And that is also the reason why I paid special attention to giving it the right container. The frame is of very high quality, the work is indented from the wood with mounting, the glass contains a UV filter.
