Revolt against moralizing

This artwork is a clear response to forced moralization and normalization, in which I purposefully create a heresy against everything sacred. The Birth of the Devil is the birth of a black sheep and an unwanted product of his own creators.

Side mystery of the artwork

Humanity creates its own monsters, for the reason of thinking that if we know something better than others, it gives us the right to interfere with their freedoms. Frankly, sometimes I don’t know who is the bigger victim of these troubles and mistakes, whether the people who created their own monster, or the monster who had little choice in its role as a tyrant and ended up in a very narrow position against its will. The monster then gets constantly bombarded with hostility and disgust, demonized from all directions.

Use and fate of the artwork

The artwork Birth of the Devil has become something of a high standard in my provocation towards the too-rigid society, as a statement “An artist can think, say, and create whatever they want – get mad if you please!” The work has been featured on underground bands’ covers and used multiple times to promote metal club concerts. Eventually my long-time friend, poet, and photographer Petr Polívka bought the artwork.
